What are the 4Cs?
Carat: Carat measures the weight of the diamond. One carat (1 ct) equals to 0.20 grams. A valuable diamond is determined by a bigger carat and a good combination of the other 3Cs. However, a decently sized stone will not shine without the right cut, colour and
Cut: refers to both the diamond’s shape and to the number of facets, their size and their relative proportions on the surface of a diamond.
Clarity: As a gift from nature a billion years ago, it is natural for a diamond to have inclusions. These inclusions are determined by the elements that were present when the diamond was formed. These inclusions are part of each diamond’s characteristics which make each one unique and special much like our fingerprints. Clarity refers to the pureness of the diamond from these inclusions. The lesser the inclusions, the greater the clarity and thus the more valuable the diamond.
Colour: Diamonds naturally come in a range from colourless to yellow. Colour refers to the shades of diamond body colour which has been determined by nature. However, due to rarity of pure colourless diamond, value of this diamond is much higher.
Which of the ‘CS’ is the most important?
The beauty of a diamond’s sparkle is the result of how well it has been cut. The aspects of cut that contribute most to a diamond’s beauty are proportion, symmetry and polish.
Only stones cut with correct proportions and an exacting finish become Solitaire Club diamonds, even though such stringent standard requires sacrificing much more of a rough diamond’s weight. Solitaire Club gemologist only selects diamonds which fulfill the above proportion cut for all our rings.
Does every diamond come with a GIA certificate?
